Weekly Vusfy update #34

Nov 11, 2024

Hello everyone,

How are you? As always, it is a pleasure to have you here.

Welcome to the 34th instalment of the Weekly Vusfy progress updates. It is one day late, because life kept me busy on Sunday, but is here, so let’s dive straight in. :)

Dependency updates

To make Vusfy possible, I rely on code written by other people, which I then use in Vusfy. These dependencies regularly publish updates, and this week, I have applied the latest batch of them.

Add searching by description of goals, events, and rewards

Last week, I talked future improvements for the search functionality. The first batch is here. :)

Now, you can also search goals, events, and reward by their description. Thus, Vusfy has started displaying part of the description in the list of search results. As a further improvement, Vusfy highlights what matches your query, to make your life easier. I still have to add searching through goal occurrences and event occurrences, I know.

Now that I am typing these words, it would also be nice to be able to search for things that happened (or where created) in a range of dates… You know what? I see the value of it, but that is a bit too far out there to accomplish it in the short term.

The next improvement to Vusfy’s search will likely be adding goal occurrences and event occurrences, so stay tuned. :)

Add searching by title or descritpion of goal occurrences and event occurrences

As I mentioned in the section right above this one, the next likely improvement to Vusfy’s search was adding searching by goal occurrences and event occurrences. And it is here. :)

Using the global search field in the home page (after logging in), you will be able to search for goal occurrences and event occurrences by their title or description.

It seems to be a bit of a theme when it comes to search, but I have just realised that you cannot search for goal occurrences and event occurrences on their respective list pages. Time to fix that (but not now, in the near future). :)

Conclusion

Thank you for your time, and until we meet again, take care of yourselves.

Cheers,
