Weekly Vusfy update #27

Sep 23, 2024

Hello everyone,

How are you? As always, it is a pleasure to have you here.

Welcome to the 27th instalment of the Weekly Vusfy progress updates. I am publishing on Monday, rather than Sunday, because life kept me busy on Sunday. Let’s dive straight in.

Dependency updates

To make Vusfy possible, I rely on code written by other people, which I then use in Vusfy. These dependencies regularly publish updates, and this week, I have applied the latest batch of them.

Update Ruby version

A short while ago, a new Ruby version, 3.3.5, came out. This week, I finally had time to update Vusfy to use it.

Improve setting the time zone when a new user registers

Imagine you have come across Vusfy, and you want to sign up. When you reach the sign up page, you will see a selector to choose your time zone.

Before this change, you had to select the time zone manually. Now, Vusfy preselects the time zone closest to your browser’s timezone. I see this as a quality of life improvement, which will make signing up less of a faff.

Conclusion

Thank you for your time, and until we meet again, take care of yourselves.

Cheers,
EpiHandle
